Criminal Justice takes on Orlando

Criminal justice students earned a trip to Orlando, Fla., to take part in the annual Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences conference. Pauler Baker, associate professor of criminal justice, took eight students to the conference the week before spring break.
Students earned the opportunity to attend by participating in interactive learning projects such as public service announcements and creating web pages. The students were part of either the victimology class or community policing, and classmates voted on their works to determine if they were going on the trip.
Students attended a few panels each day at the conference and presented round table discussions about their learning experiences. Various authors of textbooks were also in attendance for students to meet.
“The trip to Orlando was an adventure in learning and networking for our UPIKE students,” Baker said.
The students who attended the conference were Joshua Kelly, Joscely Davis, Michael Vaquera, Cody Stinnet, Richard Gray, Courtney Camey, and Jennifer Antonucci.
