Women’s basketball upsets another ranked opponent
0Saturday afternoon, Jan. 17, the UPIKE Lady Bears hosted the Cumberland Bulldogs. Despite posting a season high in turnovers of 24, the Lady Bears basketball team held on for the second win over a ranked opponent.
This was UPIKE’s first ranked win since they met the Tigers of Georgetown Nov. 15 with a score of 77-73.
Kandice Porter offset the turnover trouble with a balance effort of 10 points, five rebounds, four blocks, and a career high of four steals.
Just when it felt like the Lady Bears had taken control of the game, the Lady Bulldogs went on an 11-2 run.
UPIKE quickly responded with a 16-2 run in the second half. The Bulldogs just couldn’t capitalize; the ending score was 69-95.
The Lady Bears will be on the road this Thursday, Jan. 29 to play the Cumberland Bulldogs. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
