UPIKE loses to Lindsey Wilson

On Saturday, Sept. 15, the UPIKE Bears faced off against N. 4 Lindsey Wilson. The Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders jumped to an early lead 14-0 in the first quarter. As the the game went on ,the Blue Raiders showed no sign of slowing down as they entered half time with lead of 41-7. Coming out at halftime, the Bears looked ready for the second half with a quick defensive stop to start the half off. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the score was 62-7 the Blue Raiders leading. The Bears seemed to have gotten themselves in a hole but the team continued to fight to the end to give the game a final score of 69-14. Some big impact performers for the bears: QB Bowen Smith completed 9 of 12 for 75 yards. Running along side next to Smith was Xondrea Willis who accounted for 83 yards rushing and 7 yards receiving. On the other side of the ball for the Bears, LB Emmett Kersey led the Bears with 11 tackles. “It was a tough team loss, but we are going to learn from what happened here tonight and move on to the next week and try a get a dub at home,” Coach Pavin Downs. Next week the Bears will face off against Warner University at Hambley Sports Complex said.
