The first professional attire fashion show was held on Tuesday, March 27, in Booth Auditorium. Sonia Smith, director of career and professional development, hosted an event demonstrating proper hair, nails, and attire for a seemingly flawless professional look. She diligently presented the do’s and don’ts of what to wear to interviews, the workplace, and even work events.
Smith informed the audience of the Career Closet, located in Wickam Hall, where name brand professional clothing is donated for students to keep for presentations, interviews, and daily work attire. Currently, there are also kaki pants being given away on the ground floor of the Administration building, across from the business office. In the closet, there are a wide variety of suites, shoes, socks, blouses, and ties.
“It’s the first time we’ve done this. We’re trying to highlight people using the Career Closet and being able to get free clothes,” Smith said.
She also emphasized that these clothes are new or lightly used.
“We want to encourage students to feel comfortable dressing up,” Smith said.
