On Friday, March 2, and Saturday, March 3, Rebecca Wilkes, junior; Hannah Adkins, junior; Laura Keeton, senior; Brandi Kessler, senior; and Chase Huffman, senior, traveled with James Riley, Ph.D., professor of English and coordinator of the English program, to present their literary works at the 2018 Kentucky Philological Association Conference hosted by Union College.
KPA is an organization of teachers and students who study language and literature and believe in the impact of language on the world. While accompanying the students to Union College to present their works, Riley also presented his own literature.
Keeton read “Trouble Ahead” in the first session at Union. In the second session, Adkins read “The New Normal” and Wilkes read “Broken Sanctuaries.” Lastly, Kessler read “Hooked,” and Riley read a collection of his poems ranging from poems written to his students to personal stories of his loved ones that had passed away.
“This trip is one I will not forget. It has made me for confident for my reading at Sigma Tau Delta in Cincinnati, Ohio,” said Kessler, senior.
