UPIKE welcomes Trinity Ministries

Trinity Harvest Church started its ministry at UPIKE on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in Booth Auditorium. In the days and weeks prior, students and volunteers all helped to advertise the launch party. With quite the turnout, there were rows of people there for worship.
To start the night, a guest couldn’t walk through a single door without seeing a smiling face of a joyous greeter. The service opened with a couple songs of worship and a speech from the program coordinator, Chris Hurley. He welcomed the audience with exciting news that Trinity would make UPIKE home every Sunday night. The sermon by pastor Richard Holmes began a seven-week series that will focus on the last seven words of Jesus. Sunday night focused on forgiveness, and three people gave their life to Christ.
Hurley mentioned that he was pleased with the number of people in attendance on Sunday. As a previous athlete at UPIKE, Hurley is on a mission.
“I was really happy with the turnout, want to see more athletes in here; that’s my goal. It’s going to be a process as far as getting them here and helping them understand what kind of church we have,” he said.
To finish the night, after the closing prayer, pizza and Gatorade were given away in the lobby. Once people were finishing their food and drinks, the worship team pulled name cards for a raffle. The multiple winners all received shirts specially designed by Trinity.
