On Oct. 21 Rachel Little, instructor of communication, and the UPIKE Pink Ladies, hosted a Party in Pink Zumbathon. All proceeds were donated to the Zumba global research grant for breast cancer prevention. The event helps to spread awareness of breast cancer and the research grant helps to discover a correlation between breast cancer prevention and flaxseed. “I really enjoy these events. They help to raise awareness about something that has affected so many people in our community,” Little said. A total of 25 people showed up to the event and the event raised a total of $239. The overall goal of the Party in Pink campaign is a total of $3 million. They are currently at $1.9 million. This is a world wide project and it happens from August 1 to Oct 31.
