First Year Spotlight: Ashley Goines
0Written By Madison Varney
Ashley Goines is a biology major from Gainesville, Ga., aspiring to be a doctor to help people the way she’s been helped in the past. Kentucky is the fifth state she’s lived in. She was born in Tennesse, then lived in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Georgia. Goines has been playing softball for 13 years and came here on a softball scholarship where she plays 3rd and 1st base, number 21. She loves the game because it’s the only sport she really enjoys and stuck with it. “If you ain’t first, you’re last,” is Goines’ favorite quote from Ricky Bobby because she is a competitive person and Talladega Nights is one of her favorite movies. Goines’ favorite color is turquoise, and she’s a dog person because cats are sassy and think they’re entitled to everything in the house. Like most college students, sleeping is Goines’ only hobby. Hawaii is the favorite place she’s been, and she would like to go to Brazil because the beaches are beautiful. She likes listening to hip hop music and her favorite song right now is “Caroline” by Aminé. Halloween is this weekend and Goines will be dressing up as a cute little fairy. If she could be any fictional character it would be Tinkerbell. She’s scared of the dark and scary movies, even though she was born on Hallows’ Eve.
