Meet Jackie Kidd, a freshman here at UPIKE and the first, First Year Spotlight! Kidd is from Prestonsburg, Ky, and came to UPIKE to take advantage of the small campus and to stay closer to home.
Kidd is on the UPIKE Women’s Soccer Team and has been involved in soccer since she was 6 years old.
“Soccer had a huge impact on my decision to come to UPIKE as well,” said Kidd.
“I don’t make friends easily, but, I have made friends with all of them,” said Kidd. The worst part about college for Kidd so far has been time management.
Kidd has several hobbies.
“I like finding new TV shows to watch, coloring, and braiding hair,” said Kidd.
Kidd is a nursing major and plans to pursue a career in caring for cancer patients. She is passionate about caring for cancer patients from her own personal experiences with her grandmother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014.
“In August 2015 she was told she was cancer free, and I was so happy I cried. I will never forget how happy I was to hear them say that and see her eyes light up. I just want to be there for the people who go through it because I should’ve been there the whole time but I couldn’t,” said Kidd.
