UPIKE men’s basketball goes 1-1

The UPIKE men’s basketball team went 1-1 against two tough teams last week. The Bears lost to Georgetown 83-78 Monday, Jan 25.The Bears and the tigers kept going back and forth with the score. KK Simmons, Christian Leach, and Macari Brooks were the leading scorers of the game; Brooks also had his career high with 13 rebounds.
Georgetown’s Noah Coatrill made it a three-point game knocking down both of his free-throws. Simmons got the ball while being well defended and put up a last second three but missed.
The Bears hosted the Life Eagles last Thursday, January 28. Life is also one of the tougher conference match ups for the bears. UPIKE won the game 102-97. Leach and Simmons led the Bears with 30 and 28 points respectively.
Life made 8 of 12 of their threes which lead to a 15 point lead at the half. Leach came out of fire scoring most of his points in the second half. Simmons made five threes for the fifth time this season.
