Bear’s Growl: Parking on Campus
0Written by Regina Robinson
As a third-year student at the University of Pikeville, I have really enjoyed my time here on campus. I commute each day about 1 hour and 15 minutes. With that being said, I arrive about an hour early just to find a parking spot. I think that it is absolutely ridiculous that we have to pay such a high amount for tuition and such, but we don’t have our own parking garage or reserved parking.
There is the option for on-campus parking, but there are never any parking spots available on campus for commuters. So, when you have to miss class because of the crazy parking, you are penalized because you had to miss. During last week’s snow storm when I arrived at school, I drove around the parking garage and on campus just to find a parking spot. The top floor of the parking garage was covered in snow, and no one was parked in an actual parking spot. Because of this incident, I had to miss two pop quizzes and all three of my classes.
I really think that this is a big issue, and something needs to be done.
