UPIKE’s fundamentals of acting class to present 12 Angry Men

UPIKE instructor of theatre, Kim Willard, and members of her COM 202: Fundamentals of Acting class are working hard on the production of 12 Angry Men. This play will count as a final exam for the students in the course.
Following the closing arguments in a murder trial, 12 members of a jury must deliberate, with a guilty verdict meaning death for the accused, an inner-city teen. As the dozen jurors try to reach a unanimous decision while sequestered in a room, one juror casts considerable doubt on elements of the case. Personal issues soon rise to the surface, and conflict threatens to derail the delicate process that will decide one boy’s fate.
The play will be held in Chrisman Auditorium at 7 p.m. on May 6, 8, and 9. Admission is free. Volunteers from Jenny Wiley Theatre will help with the technical support of the production.
“More than half of these students have never been in a play before, and they are doing a remarkable job,” Willard said.
She is excited to see the final production.
