FCA meets weekly
0By Haley Jo Patton and Callisha Johnson
Every Thursday at 11 a.m. in Record Memorial, FCA is held. The meetings start with prayer requests.
Thursday, Feb. 12, Musick spoke briefly about the gospel of Mark and the power of Jesus.
Musick said, “He couldn’t be weighed down with something good, because there was something better.”
In closing, Musick requested that all attendees take 5 minutes out of every day to speak to God and to let God speak to them. He stressed that this time should be undistracted and quiet.
Thursday, Feb. 26, the sermon came from the book of Genesis. The very first question that was asked was what do we do to remind ourselves to do something. The first few responses were, write them down, put them in our phone, or tell someone else to remind you. At first, a few wondered where is he going with this? Following those responses, Musick said, “Not only do we need reminders but, God also needed reminders.”
Musick talked about the flood story and how after the flood was over God made a rainbow in the sky as a reminder to never destroy the earth again. The rainbow is a symbol of peace although God was still not happy with the way mankind acted even after he destroyed everything.
After discussing the flood story, Musick asked, “ What’s your role in life when it comes to anger? How quick are you to pop off either in violence, words, or thoughts?”
He reminded the group to make peace in life, “Hang up your bow,” he said. Musick talked about how certain things remind you how to act or to do something.
“Wearing a wedding ring reminds me that I am suppose to act a certain way and stay true to the vows I made to my wife,” Musick added.
He said another thing that really hit home was, “God never throws us out. He is always molding us to make us better.”
FCA aims to motivate student athletes to incorprate Christ in everything they do. All students are welcome to attend FCA.
