Travel Ireland, England with UPIKE
0Written by Katie Walters
In the summer 2015, UPIKE students along with professors, Sumer Bingham and Darrell Riffe, will experience the beauty of Ireland and England on a two-week trip of historic religious sites.
Students will depart for Dublin, Ireland, to begin the trip on May 18. During their stay in Ireland, they will visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral, experience Haunted Dublin, see the Eighth Wonder of the World: The Giant’s Causeway, and tour the Beara Peninsula along with many other famous stops.
May 25, the group will venture to England to start the second half of the trip. In England, they will experience Stonehenge, Salisbury, and Old Sarum, visit Oxford, tour the Roman baths, and explore the British Museum in London. They will return home June 1.
The trip is designed around a three- credit hour course, REL/FMA 390, that focuses on Pagan and Celtic mythology, their practices and their representations in British and Irish cinema. While visiting Ireland and England, students will apply the knowledge that they have learned in the classroom through the semester and experience the sites they have learned about from an entirely new perspective. The total cost for the trip is $3,000 and a $500 non-refundable deposit is required when registering for the class.
More information can be found on the trip’s Facebook page, UPIKE in Ireland and England. If interested, please contact Bingham or Riffe.
