COM Honor Society supports babies

The communication honor society at UPIKE, Chi Omicron Mu, is starting the year off with a lot of action. From adding new members to supporting babies, this group is definitely active on campus.
Wednesday, Oct. 15, Chi Omicron Mu will host an induction ceremony for eligible COM students at 7 p.m. in the Record Conference Room.
The communication honor society has been focusing its attention this semester to support the March of Dimes Foundation. The first event to support the cause was the March for Babies held at Bob Amos Park on Sept. 27. Both students and professors joined together to participate in the walk, along with others from the community.
This past weekend, Shake Señora Zumba Fitness in Pikeville hosted the group’s first fundraiser, ZUMBA for Babies. ZUMBA for Babies was open to UPIKE students as well as people in the community. This single event raised $165. All of the money will be donated to the March of Dimes Foundation by UPIKE’s COM Honor Society.
If you would like to join in and help support the March of Dimes, COM students will be hosting a bake sale this month. Members will be set up Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Armington Lobby from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. All sales will be added to the March of Dimes.
“Communication is supporting the March of Dimes this year because recent graduate Brittany Rowe serves as the group’s community director. We’re pleased to do our part in the fight for healthy babies,” Chandra Massner, associate professor of communication, said.
