Academic Teams place
0On Nov. 16, the University of Pikeville hosted a Kentucky Collegiate Quick Recall League tournament. UPIKE competed in a showdown of knowledge alongside the University of the Cumberlands, Ohio Southern, and Murray State.
As the teams battled it out at the buzzer, it was the UPIKE Division 1-A team that pulled ahead of the rest winning all four matches against the Division 1 participants.
“Racking up the wins definitely makes you feel good, especially when your competing against teams like that,” Thomas Browning, D1-A member said.
The day contest concluded by allowing the Division 2 team to compete against Big Sandy, and The University of the Cumberlands, holding its own and taking home a third place victory in Division 2.
“It’s a good learning experience. I mean, you may not win, but at least you got to experience what it is like to compete against really good colleges,” Steven Dotson, D2 member said.
The University of Louisville will host the next tournament on Dec. 7.
