Baseball takes hard hit in doubleheader

The UPIKE baseball team traveled to Chillicothe, Ohio, for a doubleheader against NCAA Div. II Ohio Dominican (ODU) on Friday, Feb. 9 after previously scheduled games were cancelled due to inclement weather.
The Panthers of Ohio Dominican (2-0) came out ready to play in the first game as they took an 18-0 win over UPIKE (2-4). Senior pitcher Dalton Dahley took the loss in the game as he gave up five runs in one and one-third innings.
In game two, the Bears were tied with ODU 4-4 after six innings of play. Max Banke won the game for the Panthers in extra innings on a single to right field to score the go-ahead run.
UPIKE junior pitcher Bruce Bell was handed the game two loss after allowing the one run in the eighth inning to make the score 4-5 in favor of ODU.
The UPIKE baseball team will be back in action at home Feb. 17 on Johnnie Lemaster Field as they take on Goshen College (Ind.).
