Dean Roberts appointed to BSCTC Board of Directors

Gov. Matt Bevin recently appointed Howard Roberts, Ed.D., dean of the University of Pikeville-Coleman College of Business, to the Big Sandy Community & Technical College (BSCTC) Board of Directors for a term of six years.
Much of Roberts’ career has focused on increasing economic opportunity in the region through education as well as innovation and collaboration.
“I am grateful to Governor Bevin for allowing me the opportunity to serve the Kentucky Community and Technical College System in this manner,” Roberts said. “Education is an economic issue and the majority of new jobs created require workforce training or a college degree. As we strive to transform the regional economy, it is critical that we provide educational opportunities for the people of the region and KCTCS plays a key role in achieving this.”
Roberts is actively engaged in the UPIKE Alumni Association Board of Directors, Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, East Kentucky.
Advanced Manufacturing Institute Advisory Board, Kentucky Humanities Council Board of Directors, Jenny Wiley Theatre Board of Directors and the Pikeville Rotary Club.
UPIKE Provost Lori Werth, Ph.D., stated, “Dr. Roberts’ work of collaborating with the community is a hallmark of what we do here at UPIKE. Forming community partnerships is integral College System. to the success of students, our community and the Commonwealth.”
Bevin also appointed Bobby McCool, director of the Paintsville/Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Charles Arnett, a physician with the Floyd County Health Department, to the BSCTC Board of Directors.
Located in Prestonsburg, BSCTC is one of 16 two-year, open-admissions institutions of the Kentucky Community & Technical.
