Kentucky Theatre Association holds annual auditions at UPIKE

There were nearly 217 undergraduates who auditioned at the annual Kentucky Theatre Association (KTA) in Chrisman Auditorium in the Armington Learning Center from Saturday, Nov. 19 to Sunday, Nov. 20.
Students from all over the country traveled for the two-day auditioning process and showed off their talents to judges of separate theatre companies. These judges also decide who moved on to the South-Eastern Theatre Conference (SETC). Fighting against the 39 percent pass rate, it became competitive and showed how much talent there is. Results are scheduled to come out after Thanksgiving.
There were UPIKE students there as well, who helped run the event and who were also auditioning, including Andrew Letscher, Mackenzie Fraley, Matt Conn, Audrey Caudill, Sarah Hackworth, and Thomas Francis.
“We really wanted to have the KTA screenings here because I want people to know about UPIKE and that there is a large want for theatre. It is a good experience for our students involved to be a part of an opportunity like this,” said Kim Willard, board member of KTA and theatre professor.
UPIKE will be attending SETC with Jenny Wiley Theater in March 2018.
