For many students, choosing a major is a difficult task because there are so many options. The University of Pikeville’s sophomore class held a “Major Fair” to help students make that decision a little easier. The event was held in the HPE building Nov. 17. Multiple professors attended the event to discuss different majors with students.
“I think it is important for students to have an open mind. There are also different questions students should ask themselves before choosing a major. Some helpful questions would include: Do you find it enjoyable? Can you handle the classes? Is this a good major for you to pursue?” Michael Holcomb, professor of mathematics, said.
At the Major Fair, students also had the opportunity to enter into a drawing to win a $50 Visa card. Rian Mullen won the drawing. A total of 20 students attended the event to discuss their worries, concerns, and aspirations.
