On Oct. 23, Andrew D. Reed, program director of film & media arts and assistant professor of film & media arts; Greg Johnson, PhD. and linguist; and UPIKE FMA students aired “Linefork” in the HPE building on the 7th floor.
“Linefork” is a documentary about the daily rituals of an elderly couple living in the Appalachian Mountains.
“A film that helps slow down a viewer rather than excite a viewer with speed and action. This film really helped put someone in the shoes of an elderly couple that lives in the mountains,” Suzie Francis, associate registrar, said.
There were more than 40 attendees watching the documentary. There were individuals that represented different departments at the university: Brigitte L. Anderson, professor of English; Lori Worth, provost; Dr. Thomas Hess, dean of the college of arts and sciences; Howard V. Francis, associate professor of mathematics & computer science; and Patricia A. Kowalok, chair, division of humanities, and professor of art.
“The film was slow, but rewarding in the end. It tells a story that not many can tell without being biased. This documentary was very hands-off. The film makers want the story to unfold without any interventon of the crew. You would think this film would be dry, but it wasn’t due to Lee’s funny sayings.” Cory Fields, junior, said
