From Oct. 11-14, the UPIKE Student Success team attended a three-day conference in St. Louis, Mo. The Dean of Student Success, Director of Student Success, four student Success advisors, the university’s Registrar, and two professors attended multiple workshops for both professional and personal development.
The group attended the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) conference from Wednesday evening until Saturday afternoon. They participated in technology lab workshops, panel discussions, and presented a study they created on campus about first-year studies.
Director of Student Success, Megan Childress, said one of her favorite workshops talked about helping students maintain good mental health and improving motivation.
“We got a lot of knowledge and came back with ideas to help students, especially those struggling,” Childress said.
They also enjoyed sight-seeing in the city. They visited the Arch and a museum, as well as Midwest Live.
