Student Government Association (SGA) election results for class officers were announced on Oct. 9 through email to everyone at UPIKE.
Freshmen class officers are president Jami Lauren Young, vice president Katelyn Fields, and secretary/treasurer Megan Taylor.
“I’m here to help them (freshmen) any way possible,” Young said. Young plans on being involved and help make the freshmen experience at UPIKE better.
Sophomore class officers are president Michaela Faith Stidham, vice president Zak Bray, and secretary/treasurer Bayley Copley.
“I want to do anything to benefit sophomores as a whole, and make their voice heard,” Stidham said. Stidham has past leadership experience as she was vice president in high school and she is currently president of Lambda Sigma and vice president in her sorority, Zeta Omega Chi.
Junior class officers are president Teddy Newsome, vice president Chuck McClain, and secretary/treasurer is currently vacant.
“I want for people (juniors) to come to me with their opinions because they have a right to be heard,” Newsome said. Leadership skills are something Newsome knows a lot about from past experiences in high school. He’s also an ROTC member and president of Gamma Sigma Chi.
The senior class officers are president Billy Cochran, vice president is currently vacant, and secretary/treasurer is also vacant.
For those vacant positions, the students that had emailed Amber Mills, SGA president, by Tuesday, Oct. 10, will be interviewed on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
The SGA’s meeting on Oct. 10 included new members of SGA introducing themselves to each other and the new members learning how SGA operates.
