The UPIKE football program scored 25 points in the 4th quarter of their 46-32 victory over the University of the Cumberlands Patriots on Oct. 14. The Bears dominated the game early as they scored a trio of touchdowns to lead Cumberlands 21-7 as the first quarter of the game drew to a close. The Patriots battered the Bears throughout the 2nd, 3rd, and early 4th quarters as they found the end zone four times and forced a safety. The Bears found themselves down 32-21. The Bears scratched and fought late in the 4th quarter as Sani Warren, Milton Shelton, and Bowen Smith scored offensive touchdowns for UPIKE. Romon Morris broke the career interception record when he returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown. The Bears finished the game with 25 unanswered points and won by a score of 46-32. “We answered the bell this week. We fought and scratched and clawed for this one we grew up from last week,” Head Coach Al Holland said.
