Instructor helps Kentucky Innovation Network create local jobs

Justin Prater, an adjunct instructor of entrepreneurship for The University of Pikeville, is helping people start businesses in Pikeville through Kentucky Innovation Network. Prater’s position in Kentucky Innovation Network Pikeville office is Assistant Director.
“Over the past year, the companies receiving assistance from the Pikeville office have created 94 full-time jobs and 31 part-time jobs,” Prater said.
Kentucky Innovation Network was started in 2001 and the Pikeville office was opened in 2014. Since opening, it has conducted workshops on subjects such as starting a business, social media marketing, and website building.
“In conjunction with the other activities, they conduct award-winning research about eastern Kentucky. In 2017, the Kentucky Innovation Network Pikeville Office won the Service Organization of the Year Award from the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce,” said Prater.
Kentucky Innovation Network Pikeville office serves nine counties in Eastern Kentucky.
