Bears’ Volleyball loses battle with Georgetown

The University of Pikeville took a loss for the conference match against no. 18 ranked Georgetown on Thursday, Sept. 28 in Georgetown, Ky. The first set went perfect for the Bears. Tied at 18, Savannah Zakman was sent to serve for the Bears and got 7 straight points. UPIKE minimized errors and won the first set 25-18. Coach Obed Quilles said, “This is the first time we have stolen a set from them since 2007.” The Bears cooled down the next three sets, losing some of their momentum . Georgetown controlled the rest of the match. The second set was 25-14. It was 25-15 in the third. The fourth and final set was 25-11.
