There are big roster changes from new and returning students, new games involved with the program, and much excitement surrounds them. The UPIKE Bears’ first game of the season will take place on Thursday, Sept. 28. This is a big leap for the team. The first semester of the 2017-2018 school year will be focusing on Overwatch, an entirely new game to the scene of eSports. “I’ve noticed an increase of communication. We are constantly feeding information to each other. There is also an increase in teamwork,” Jacob Ball, student athlete, said. “Adding diversity to the eSports team just increases the opportunities for students on campus. Everyone should have the opportunity to receive an education while performing for the school and representing the school the best they can. In regards to roster changes, it is always interesting. You have new people coming in. new faces to communicate with. Sometimes old information can be swept under the rug when we are trying something new, but we do our best to make it work,” Ball said.
