The University of Pikeville’s men and women’s soccer team hosted an indoor soccer tournament Jan. 27 through Jan. 29 for adults and high school boys and girls. There were many teams in each division signed up to play for first, second and third place trophies along with bragging rights among their peers. The event was set up by the UPIKE’s men and women players and coaches for each day and cleaned up after it was over. Also, both teams volunteered to run a concession stand and a ticket booth. The weekend was full of talented soccer players showing their skills and talent on the court creating a successful weekend of soccer. “It was a great experience for all of the players involved and it was a good way to see all the talent in the surrounding areas,” said Tori Dillon, sophomore, member of the UPIKE women’s soccer team who refereed over the weekend.
