The Bears continued their winning ways capturing the Lindsey Wilson Baker Classic title Jan. 28-29 at Smyrna Lanes. On Saturday, the tournament began with 20 baker games in both divisions. A baker game consists of five players, each bowling two frames to get a total team score. After the first day, both the men and women were leading the Varsity division. The women were leading with 3700 pins, while the men were leading their side with 3738 pins. Continuing their roll on Sunday, the lady Bears rolled a tournament high 861 baker set of 4 games, on their way to winning the tournament with a total of 7327 pins defeating second place finisher Campbellsville, with a total of 7090. Coach Robert Brown was pleased with his teams. “The pattern was tough, and filling frames was the game plan, which we did well,” Brown said. On the men’s side, the bears walked away with their second consecutive conference win totaling 7716 pins for the weekend ahead of second place Martin Methodist College who scored 7618. Men’s bowling head coach Kyle Wilson said, “It was a great way to end the Mid-South Conference regular season. Our guys have continued to work hard all year.” Winning this event led the Bears to become regular season conference champions and will bowl for the conference championship Feb. 18-19 in Bowling Green, Ky. Catch the bowling Bears back in action Feb. 11 and 12 in Indianapolis, Ind., for the Hoosier Classic.
