Career Counseling to host workshops

Students have all faced the impending question, “What do you plan to do after college?” This question can bring a flood of emotions and can make students feel nervous for the future. UPIKE’S career counselor Sonia Smith is helping to ease worries by arranging different events throughout the spring semester to help students become career ready. The variety of events are aimed at helping students prepare for a professional job setting, ranging from teaching students what to wear when interviewing, how to write a federal resume and how to improve your professional networking. There are all valuable tools that can help ensure success of UPIKE’S graduates. Each seminar allows students to become aware of the opportunities and resources available to them. The Office of Career Counseling said that the goal of teach event to help close employment skills gap and navigate their next steps towards becoming career ready. Students can make career connections by learning what internships are offered at the Job/Internship/Services fair! This semester’s events wraps up with an Adulting 101 crash course in April. The career counselor’s office is located in the Adminstration building room 003-B, and she can be emailed at Careercounseling.upike.edu if students have any questions. The career closet is also available Monday through Friday.
