BSU meets

Oct. 2, the Black Student Union (BSU), had a meeting. UPIKE student and BSU co-leader, Kay Cooper, was disappointed with the attendance. The only people who attended were the leaders. They want others to know about their mission. This club is not just for the African-American students, but for everyone and anyone to talk about the issues surrounding the African-American community. It allows students to express their opinions and to communicate with each other in ways to educate each other. “The name sounds like it’s (BSU) just for black students, but it’s for everyone interested to hear what people have to say about the issues surrounding African-Americans,” said Cooper. “We want to do things to make the campus more alive.” The club hopes to encourage more interactions with students of every race and culture. Cooper and her fellow leaders want to spread awareness and to help educate their fellow students. The next meeting will be Oct. 16 at 8 p.m.. Come be part of something amazing.
