The Coleman College of Business (CCOB) hosted three UPIKE alumni on Sept. 23, in Booth Auditorium, Record Memorial Building, as a part of the Business Speakers and Leadership Series. Tommy Chamberlin, attorney; Brooke Walters, pharmaceutical sales representative; and Shadd Walters, vice president at US Bank, spoke to students and others from the UPIKE community. This event is part of a series held by the CCOB each year, in which business professionals are asked to speak at UPIKE about their experiences in academia and their professional experiences. The speakers told stories of attending what was then Pikeville College. The main focus was the time spent as students. Stories were shared recalling a goat in Wickham Hall and suds being added to the fountain outside of the Allara Library. The speakers also encouraged students to do their best in their work and reminded them of the long-term benefits. A student in attendance called this an informal version of the lecture series. “I enjoyed the CCOB Leadership Lecture Series and hearing stories from three past alumns. I cannot wait to see who is speaking at the next two,” said Sara Hall, senior. The next session of the CCOB Leadership Series will be in October.
