Bears split with IUP

The University of Pikeville baseball team used extra innings to secure a split with Indiana-Pennsylvania (IUP) on Sunday, March 6. With a clutch bases-loaded hit from Travis Haen in the bottom of the 10th, the Bears won 6-5 before losing 2-0 in the nightcap of the doubleheader on Sunday. Although IUP won the series this weekend with a game 1 win on Saturday, the Bears were right there with a shot to win each of the two games they lost if they would’ve executed a little bit better. All in all, it was a good weekend for the Bears.
Haen brought great life as well as an overall strong effort the entire weekend for the Bears, collecting three hits, two walks, a double and a stolen base. The pitching staff was also good for the Bears; each pitcher who threw was efficient. Dalton Dahley, Logan Sales, Aaron Hedgecock, and Bryce Carden all had good outings on the bump for the Bears.
The Bears will be back in action this Tuesday at home against West Virginia Tech with a doubleheader starting at noon.
“We are going to bounce back from this weekend. It only made us better as a team,” senior Logan Sales said.
