Collan McCoy, senior, is currently UPIKE’s Student Government Association (SGA) President while majoring in secondary education focusing on social studies. McCoy graduated from Sheldon Clark and is from Inez, Ky. He is excited to graduate this May. McCoy has been on the academic team, an RA and a part of homecoming court for three years as well.
“Being SGA President is stressful but so rewarding, I love being able to help out the student body that I care so much about,” said McCoy.
He has been involved in many activities during his college experience such as, President of Blessed Unity of God (BUG), first ever president of UPIKE’s fraternity, Alpha Kappa Lambda, and soccer team his freshman year. McCoy is happy to be a part of so many activities and loves helping the campus grow in any way he can.
“I have tried to make the most of my time here at UPIKE in every way that I can. I know I won’t be here forever, so I wanted to do what I can, while I can,” said McCoy.
He has also been on many mission trips to Haiti with Chaplain Rob Musick because he loves experiencing new things, and he believes it is a way to stay humble and help others in ways he never knew he could before.
Coming from a small town, where not many go to college, he is so excited to be a positive figure for his community in hopes to motivate people to continue their education.
