Battle of the Bears: UPIKE vs. Shawnee

As the Bears came into the weekend series, March 25-26, with Shawnee State, they were tied for first place in the Mid-South Conference with Lindsey Wilson. The Bears had a chance to sit alone at the top of the conference after the weekend series with Shawnee State after coming off a weekend sweep against Cumberland Tennessee. The Bears were hot and had no intentions of slowing down.
After losing the first game against the Bears of Shawnee, on Friday, March 25, the Bears regrouped before Saturday. UPIKE came out Saturday, March 26 continuing to impress in Mid-South Conference play, sweeping a doubleheader at Shawnee State to win its second straight league series in conference. The Bears took the opener 6-3 before earning a 4-1 win in the nightcap.
“The feeling I have right now about this team is something I can’t explain. We are hot right now, and feel like we can beat anybody that steps on the field with us,” senior Jacob DiThomas said.
The Bears are back in action Tuesday, March 29 at Rio Grande.
