Baseball Bears bounce back

The UPIKE baseball team took a trip down to West Point, Ga., over the weekend to face the Point University Skyhawks. The Bears got the first sweep of the year winning all three games against the Skyhawks. This put the Bears at an overall record of 3-2 on the year. The first game the series the Bears took by a score of 4-2. Junior pitcher James Brooks received the win and Junior Pitcher AJ Carkner got the save to end the game. The second game of the series UPIKE won with a score of 5-4. Sophomore pitcher Dalton Dahley got the win for that game and AJ Carkner again came in to get the save. The Bears came into Sunday’s game with all of the momentum and got the third win of the series to complete the sweep 5-1. Junior pitcher Bryce Carden went the distance throwing all nine innings and received the win. Junior outfielder Connor Osborne said “this was an important series for us. It got us above the .500 mark and hopefully created some momentum going into the next weekend.”
