Christian’s Corner

Happy New Year! It’s January, and we all know what that means: bad Hollywood movies! I’ve never been too sure why Hollywood sees January as a dumping ground for all of its worst movies, but it appears this year is no exception to the rule, with sure-fire critical bombs like Fifty Shades of Black, the latest terrible spoof film starring Marlon Wayans, and Ride Along 2, the sequel to the 2014 Ice Cube/Kevin Hart buddy cop movie, set to hit theaters. The bad luck doesn’t just apply to sequels, however, as the Zac Efron and Robert De Niro raunch film Dirty Grandpa was also spewed out to cinemas the world over for us all to groan at. With the end of January approaching, there is still hope that maybe Hollywood is possibly starting to consider maybe thinking about changing its ways, with The Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio releasing this month to rave reviews and earning the actor an Oscar nomination. Add in Dreamworks Studio’s Kung Fu Panda 3 into the mix and there is some hope in the cold, barren cinematic winter. Though, I suppose in the worst case scenario, we can always all go see Star Wars for the twentieth time and hope February brings us something better.
