UPIKE’s Zeta Omega Chi sorority is hosting a 5K race with all the proceeds going towards the WestCare Shelter for the homeless. The race will be held Saturday, May 2, starting at 10 a.m. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the race and will continue until the event begins. Participants must pay a $20 entry fee, which will get them a free t-shirt along with any snacks, or drinks you would like prior to or after the race.
The sorority is encouraging anyone that would like to participate to come out to raise money for this great cause.
Vice President, Danielle Smith, is looking forward to the event and the opportunity to put their philanthropy to good use.
“We have prepared for the last few months and things are all starting to come together. We are hoping to raise enough money through the event to give $500 to each of the WestCare shelters in Pikeville,” said Smith.
Along with the proceeds from race participants the sorority will have an on-site silent auction that will include many items. Bidding will starting on each item at $20.
