In 2012, Janean Freeman, visited Roa in Ecuador where they established a friendship and came up with the idea to have him come to Pikeville. They both agreed that it would be an unforgettable experience for the both of them.
At the age of 7, Roa starting playing music. He started out playing the flute and now plays the guitar and piano. At the age of 9, he started to write his own music.
He has his own guitar studio on campus and has played his guitar in two concerts at Pikeville already. He is teaching in world music and does some guest speaking around campus as well.
In his free time, Roa likes to continue studying and to take walks.
Roa said, “You have to find that one thing that will keep your focus. Your passion.”
To Roa, music is his passion and in his free time, that’s what he does. He keeps studying music and playing so that he will be the best he can be.
