Chapel welcomes local pastor
0Tuesday morning, March 17 at 11 a.m., Chaplain Rob Musick hosted the weekly chapel session. Musick opened the sermon with a story about Jesus healing illness in John 5. The moral to the story was that sometimes the Lord asks us to deal with our own healing, for example, perhaps school issues or family misunderstandings.
Then, there was a group prayer with numerous prayer requests. Following the prayer, Devin Clevinger performed two songs: “In the Secret” by Chris Tomlin and “Your Great Name” by Natalie Grant.
The guest speaker was Pastor Debby Bailey from Grace Fellowship Church in Pikeville. She based her message off of Psalm 121, better known as the traveler’s psalm.

She preached about the importance of keeping the Lord close and living through the Lord even in tough times. Bailey spoke about the Chilean miners’ story to represent the power of the Lord. She believes that God gives us the same support that he gave those miners throughout their troublesome journey. She continued on talking about how God watches over us in everything we do.
“God watches over every decision. Just because he knows our actions and outcomes doesn’t mean he wants it to happen, but he helps us stay on the right track,” she said.
Verse 5 of Psalms 121 also discusses how close the Lord is to us. Bailey explains that verse 5 compares the Lord’s closeness to the shade at our right, and it compares his consistency to the sun and the moon.
“God is the same yesterday, today, and forever,” said Bailey.
The chapel was dismissed with a prayer and an invitation to Bailey’s church on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m.
