On March 4, in Frankfort, Ky., the University of Pikeville cheerleading team was on a quest to capture their third consecutive Mid-South Conference championship titles.
In the Frankfort Convention Center, six teams took the floor to capture this elusive title. Pikeville had won this honor the last two years, but the story was different this time around. After the final act, Pikeville fell behind the eventual winner, Campbellsville University. Georgetown College rounded out the podium for a third place finish.
Aside from the team competition, Pikeville had some individual honors that needed to be recognized. For the Mid-South Conference team awards, seniors Josh Little and Jaimie Ward were awarded to the First Team All Mid-South Conference and junior Megan Kirk and senior Katie Walter made the second team All-Conference.
Pikeville also had five athletes make the all Mid-South Conference academic team: Little, Caitlyn Dixon, Shannon Howder, Jessalyn Hunter and Kaci Wilcox. They were awarded with this honor on Tuesday evening, March 3.
