UPIKE Greeks recruit new members

Ever feel disconnected from everyone? Feel like you need a place to fit in? Have you ever considered joining Greek life on campus? Zeta Omega Chi and Delta Delta Nu are the two sororities on UPIKE’s campus. Gamma Sigma Chi and Delta Alpha Lambda are the two fraternities.
Recruitment week started Monday, Feb. 9, and will last until Thursday, Feb. 12. Participating in the recruitment week activities does not mean you have to join. Recruitment week is the week to “test the waters.” You can determine if Greek life fits you.
Starting on Monday, prospective Greek recruits met the members of the Greek community and played Greek Trivia at Bank 253.
On Tuesday, each Chapter hosted events in their respective Wickham common rooms. Delta Alpha Lambda hosted a game and pool night. Gamma Sigma Chi hosted an open house with pizza, drinks, music, games, and Ping-Pong. The ladies participated in a “Peacock Paradise” with Zeta Omega Chi. Delta Delta Nu hosted “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Sisterhood.”
Wednesday, there will be a Delta Alpha Lambda Water-Pong Tournament held in the Student Lounge at 9 p.m.! It will be a two-person team, single elimination tournament. Prizes will be Wal-Mart gift cards starting with $30 per person for first place, $20 per person for second place, and $10 per person for third place.
If you’re still on the fence about joining a Greek life organization, think about the statistics. Eighty five percent of Fortune 500 executives were part of Greek life. The first female astronaut was a Greek member. The first female senator was as well. College graduation rates are 20 percent higher among Greeks than non-Greeks.
