The countdown has begun for the UPIKE softball team and the young women are excited for their first game on Feb. 20 against Bluefield College, with their new head coach, Christine Sheridan. This will be Sheridan’s first season with the university, but she is no rookie when it comes to coaching.
Before joining the UPIKE staff, Sheridan spent three seasons as an assistant coach at an NCAA Div. 1 school and three seasons before that as an assistant coach at Georgia State University. Although she has an outstanding background as a coach, she also was a fantastic player and received a few awards during her collegiate days.
The Lady Bears have four returning seniors: Brandi Howard, Sarah Kinney, Kayla Brown, and Brittany Adams. These young ladies were huge contributors for the Lady Bears during their previous season. There are also quite a few returning juniors and sophomores who are expected to help the team out a lot this year.
