UPIKE holds annual alumni baseball game
0At Johnny Lemaster baseball field Oct. 12, the UPIKE Bears held the traditonal UPIKE alumni baseball game with the alumni. Although the field was a little wet from previous days of rain, it didn’t stop the alumni from competing. This is held every year for UPIKE baseball to raise money for the program and give the alumni a chance to meet the new UPIKE Bears.
This year the man that the field is named after attended, Johnny Lemaster, former shortstop for the San Fransisco Giants. He was a player and coach at the University of Pikeville.
Lemaster said, “It’s good to be back where I started, and I love seeing all the new faces and some old ones that I’ve coached.”
Overall, the alumni game was a success. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere.
