BUS alumnus speaks to campus
0“Don’t fake who are; be true to yourself.” This was only one of several powerful keys to success that was relayed to the audience by guest speaker Larry B. Forester, featured speaker in November for the Speakers and Leadership series, hosted by the Coleman College of Business.
Forester is the vice president for the Central Kentucky region of Community Trust Bank and is currently working out of Lexington with current retail sales goals in the multi-millions. He was a part of the Pikeville College class of 2005, was a member of the football team for five years, and is a recent inductee into the athletic hall of fame at UPIKE.
In front of an audience of more than 200, Forester delivered a personable speech about how he became successful after graduation, and he offered some encouraging words for young students to be successful as well.
“You must set both personal and professional goals and never stop working to achieve them,” said Forester.
“You must also surround yourself with people who have similar goals and attitudes as yourself,” he added.
He had important advice for students at UPIKE.
“Listen to all of your professors; they are all of high quality and all played a role in my success,” he said.
Business professor Brenda Maynard was excited about his visit. “I’ve known Larry for quite some time, and for him to come to UPIKE and share his success story
with our faculty and students was fantastic. I think it gives our students some hope for the future,” she said.
