Women compete in Striking Knights Classic
0The women’s bowling team competed in the Striking Knights Classic this past weekend in Louisville, Ky. There were 11 Varsity teams and three Junior Varsity teams competing. The format for this tournament was nine individual games; and the team with the highest amount of pin fall was the winner.
The Varsity team bowled a total of 8,472 pins, averaging about 190 each game. The women held about a 200-pin lead for most of the tournament and finished in first with a 510-pin lead over the second place team, Bellarmine University. Sophomore Katelyn Simpson won the tournament in the women’s division with a total pin fall of 1,737 for nine games. She averaged 193 for the tournament. Junior Brianna Larson had high average for the tournament, 194 for seven games.
In the Junior Varsity division, the UPIKE JV teams won first and second places. The JV black team scored a total of 8,030 pins, and the JV orange team scored a total of 7,650. Junior Kaylee Magazine won the tournament in the JV division with a total pin fall of 1713, averaging a 190. Junior Kara Crowe also made all-tournament team with a score of 1,498 for eight games with an average of 187. Junior Jenna Grandy made all-tournament team as well with a score of 1,440 for eight games averaging 180.
“I’m glad I got to bowl with a great team this weekend, and that I got the opportunity to succeed individually. As a team, we fought through a lot of obstacles and overcame them all, and came out on top. I hope that there are many more great wins ahead for us!” Magazine said.
